8 killed, 26 injured as vehicle overturns on way to temple

Eight persons were today killed and 26 others injured as a tractor-trolley they were travelling in overturned on way to a temple in the district, police said.
The victims, all from Shivpuri, were on their way to the famous Ratangarh Mata Mandir when the mishap took place at a spot around 60 kms from the district headquarters, they said.
As per initial investigation, the tractor-trolley driver apparently dozed-off following which the vehicle fell off the road and overturned on Dabra-Pichore road under Dinara police station limits in the wee hours today, Dinara police station's sub-inspector Ramaraja Tiwari told PTI over phone.

"We have impounded the vehicle and a search is on to nab the driver who fled from the spot after the accident," he said.
Four of the victims died on the spot, while as many others succumbed on their way to the hospital.
The injured persons have been admitted to two different hospitals, the SI said.

The bodies have been handed over to their family members after postmortem.

Sub-Inspector Tiwari said the deceased have been
identified as Ravindra (18), Maniram (50), Kudhi Bai (30), Manoj (25), Harnam (30), Rajkumari (25), Khuman (60) and Ashish (age not known).
