Four labourers were trapped at Check Dam in Basantar river in Samba district yesterday as heavy rains lashed the area, causing flash floods, Deputy Commissioner Mubarak Singh said.
They were later rescued in a joint operation by police and locals, he said.
In a similar case in Kathua district, four people trapped in flash floods in Bini canal in Billawar belt were rescued late last night, officials said.
Flash floods washed away a small part of the Check Dam, resulting in flooding of Aamli, Kamore, Rangroor and Badoda villages.
Over 400 acre land was inundated in the the flash floods caused by heavy rains in mountainous belt of Nud in Samba, where water entered into four border out posts (BOPs) along the Indo-Pak border, officials said.
However, there was no report of any casualty or damage caused in the BOPs.
