8 schools, 6 housing societies receive Daan Utsav awards

Eight schools and six housing societies in the city received the second 'Daan Utsav Samman' today for their contributions towards environment, healthcare, education and community welfare, among others.
A media release issued by the organiers said it is a festival and it belongs to the people, just like Diwali, Christmas, Eid, World Elders Day or Mother's Day.
A large number of socially conscious citizens volunteer to encourage more and more people to celebrate the 'Daan Utsav' (Festival of Giving) across the country.
"Some people donate money, some their time, some materials and some just love. One can celebrate this festival the way one wants," the release said.

More than 35 schools and 90 housing societies took part in this years Daan Utsav, it said.
The event is celebrated every year beginning October 2 and lasts for a week.
