An estimated 84.64 per cent voters exercised their franchise to elect the lone Lok Sabha member from Nagaland.
Interior Kiphiri district recorded the highest turnout of 95.83 per cent, while Tuensang had the least turnout at 72.74 per cent, Returning Officer Temjen Toy told a press conference here.
He said the overall figure showed a decrease of 6.13 per cent of the total vote cast in the 2009 Lok Sabha poll which had recorded 90.77 voters turnout.
The final figure would be given after reports from polling stations in interior districts arrived, he said.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere, he said.
Polling was adjourned at a government primary school Ladaigarh in Longleng district bordering Assam as Assam police did not allow entry of polling officials while a mob prevented setting up of a standby polling station.
Toy said that though there were some skirmishes, the matter was resolved at the local levels.
In a triangular contest, NPF candidate and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was pitted against Congress candidate KV Pusa and Akhei Achumi.
