Micro-organisms, unqualified food additives and product quality were the major problems found with the imports, which came from 23 countries or regions, according to figures for June released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ).
Eight shipments of substandard cosmetic products imported from three countries or regions were also seized due to their substandard quality, use of banned additives or micro-organism contamination, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The products were either returned to sender or destroyed and did not enter the Chinese market.
