The patient was treated with the advanced Dynamic Hip Screwing technique, a pin hole procedure wherein the surgery for the fractured hip is done through a one cm incision, at the KG Hospital.
The surgery was challenging because it had to be performed swiftly within 20 minutes, as any delay would have turned fatal for the patient in the form of a cardiac arrest, hospital Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr.A.Sakthivel said today.
The octogenarian suffered a fall and had fractured her hip bone and some other hospitals were hesitant to take up the surgery because she was having heart and kidney complications, he said in a release.
