Today was the last day for withdrawal of nominations in Madhya Pradesh, official sources said, adding that a candidate's nomination papers were rejected during scrutiny on November 9, official sources said here today.
Those who withdrew their nominations include rebel Congress leader Surjeet Singh Chaddha, who had filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from Indore-4 seat, they said, adding the official Congress candidate from this seat is Suresh Minda.
However, from Indore-1 seat, Congress rebel leader Kamlesh Kumar Khandelwal declined to withdraw his candidature despite frenetic efforts by Congress leaders.
Khandelwal was one of the strong claimants for this seat, but he is now contesting as an independent candidate.
Out of nine seats in the district, six are presently being represented by the ruling BJP, while the remaining three are with the Congress.
