"It is shocking that 89 per cent people of state are suffering from deficiency of Vitamin D. I would put the matter before the state government and ask them to initiate necessary action specially in remote villages for bailing out the victims," Murmu said.
The Governor was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the annual conference of Jharkhand Orthopaedics Association here.
Murmu called upon the doctors fraternity to discharge their duties with honesty and a feeling of service in mind.
President of Jharkhand Orthopaedics Association Dr DP Bhushan said that Vitamin D is essential for strong bones and its deficiency could lead to skeletal deformities.
Over 200 orthopaedics of Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Karnataka are participating in the conference.
