A S Narayana Pillai, who is still taking up social issues and fighting against the use of the hazardous endosulfan pesticide, said he was not marrying for any marital bliss.
"It is with the intention to gift financial security to a poor woman that I am doing this," he said at the wedding which was held here yesterday at the West Hill Sub-Registrar Office in front of selected guests.
Pillai, who is the Vice-president of the State unit of All India Freedom fighters Organisation, hails from Thodupuzha in Idukki. Pillai, who settled down in Wayanad 42 years ago, has six children from the first wife, who died in 1986.
