90-year old murder convict dies

A 90-year old murder convict, who was undergoing life term in the Central prison here, died at the Government Hospital (GH) due to age related ailments, police said today.
Chidambaram, native of Thazhiyur of Tirunelveli District in Tamil Nadu, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court for murdering a 65-year old woman, a co-inmate of an old age home here following a quarrel in 2013.
He fell ill and was under treatment in the prisoners' ward in the GH for the last two months for age-related diseases, they said.
Chidambaram died around midnight yesterday, police said.
