Delhi is a bustling metropolitan city with the vehicle count rising steadily, even as the government has been employing measures to encourage use of public transport to cut the rising pollution level.
"The total number of motor vehicles on the roads of Delhi as on March 31, 2016 touched 97.05 lakh, showing an increase of 9.94 per cent over previous year," the survey said.
"The road network of Delhi has increased from 32,131 lane km in 2007-08 to 33,868 lane km in 2015-16," it said.
For the Delhi Metro rail network, it said, the existing network will be increased to nearly 325 km after the completion of phase-III.

The metro has been expanding its footprint in the city, and the eco-friendly mode of transportation has helped in lowering pollution level as it is used by a large number of people everyday.
"The average daily ridership of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) increased from 23.86 lakhs during 2014-15 to 26 lakhs in 2015-16," the survey said.
Besides, encouraging people to use cars minimally, the city government has also taken measures to boost surface public transport infrastructure by expanding the bus fleet.
Besides buses being run under the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), cluster bus services are operated on public-private-partnership model.
"1,700 cluster buses are operational in nine clusters by private sector corporate carriage operators," the report added.
