The producers of the "Cruel Intentions" musical are developing the project, which will be adapted and directed by Jordan Ross, with Lindsey Rosin producing, reported Variety.
The show will run for one night only on August 30 in Los Angeles and some of the roles already cast include Luke Ward, Kirsten Cohen and "The OC" creator Josh Schwartz.
Starring Ben McKenzie, Mischa Barton, Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson, "The OC" ran for four seasons between 2003 and 2007 on Fox.
The series followed the adventures of teenage tearaway Ryan Atwood, who is adopted by the wealthy Cohen family, and the impact he has on the lives of Newport Beach residents.
