Hailing the first non-profit school powered by parents at Gamdevi in south Mumbai as a "new era in Indian education", Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said there is a need to have more such schools in the country.
"What sets this school apart is that it is being run by parents of students. This will become a shining example not only for the state but for the entire country. We need to have more such schools," Amruta said.
She also thanked the Trust and Teachers Services Committee board of the school for their efforts and said a new tradition in the field of education has been introduced with the school.
She was speaking after the inauguration of Sharda Mandir High School, the first English medium school that will be run by Lodha Foundation in the first year. Later, parents of students will run the school on a no-profit basis in the subsequent years by pooling funds.
A large number of people from various social, educational and cultural institutions were also present for the inauguration.
On the occasion, Manju Lodha, chairperson of Lodha Foundation, said the school will provide not only education but also inculcate values among students as every parent will be involved in the process.
MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, who was also present at the programme, congratulated all the parents who have launched a new educational revolution in the state.
