Titled 'India Habitat Photosphere' at the Visual Art Gallery, the festival aims to commission four selected photographers to work on the theme of sustainable development.
The work produced by the awardees would be showcased in a large-scale exhibition - mounted both indoor and outdoor - in the month of December 2016.
"The festival combines our ethos of working towards a better habitat and promoting visual arts. Habitat Photosphere will use the medium of photography to demonstrate its commitment to the protection and preservation of environment," says Rakesh Kacker, Director, IHC.
Work of the commissioned photographers should focus on Panchatatva - jal, akash, prithvi, vayu and agni - the five elements which form the very core of sustainable development.
"This is a unique initiative which is looking to help photographers to turn their gaze and lens towards creating a new language and use innovation to tackle the pressing concerns of the world at large," says Alka Pande, Artistic Director, India Habitat Photosphere.
