AAI gives nod for cargo airport in Haryana

The Haryana government intends to set up a cargo airport in the NCR sub-region in the state, an official spokesman said here today.

The application was filed with the Union Civil Aviation ministry for site clearance, he said.

The Defence ministry has issued the requisite NOC to the Civil Aviation ministry which in now processing the matter, the spokesman said.

The Railway ministry is developing a dedicated freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai covering a length of 1483-km, he said.

In order to tap opportunities likely to be generated by the freight corridor, a band of 150-km on both sides is being developed as Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor covering Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Apart from four nodes that is investment regions at Manesar-Bawal and Kundli-Sonipat and industrial regions at Faridabad-Palwal and Rewari-Hissar, early bird projects have also been identified.

These included Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre in Gurgaon district, Mass Rapid Transit System between Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal, and Integrated Multimodal Logistics Hub at Bawal in Rewari, the spokesman said.
