Terming chillie chicken and chowmein as the two most popular Chinese delicacies among the 'Aam Admi', the 'Common Man' actor Abir Chatterjee says Kolkata is the fittest contender to celebrate the New Year of the dragon land.
"If I ask you about Chinese dishes these two will instantly come to your mind as the most popular. It is an 'Aam Admi' cuisine which any Kolkatan associates with the Mandarin land.
"Which city loves the Chinese food the way we do, diluting the taste to suit ours!" the on-screen 'Common Man' in 'Royal Bengal Tiger' told PTI here to mark the days-long Chinese New Year Celebrations at 'Mainland China.'
Abir, who would term Kolkata as the most appropriate place to ring in the Horse-themed New Year after Chinese cities, said, "From roadside vendors and Tangra, we now have typical speciality restaurants where you can tuck into a whole lot of dishes like Dimsum."
About celebrations marked by dragon dance by a troupe of Chinese-origin boys, Chef Indraneel Bhattacharya said, "The Chinese people ring in their year with name of different animals. This year is the year of Wood Horse. This symbolises a year full of energy and life,"
Vetted by the Chinese chef from Sanghai, never before dishes from the mainland - lamb with onions, braised vegetables with cinnamon and mandarin chilli prawns of 'Mainland China' will be on platter for the city foodie.
