The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced its candidates for three more Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, including Gandhinagar, from where BJP veteran L K Advani is contesting.
AAP has decided to field Rituraj Mehta (47) who is a real estate developer against Advani in Gandhinagar. He has been an active member of numerous social causes, AAP said.
Two other AAP candidates announced include Rajendrasinh Jhala from Jamnagar seat and Thakorbhai Gamit from Bardoli seat.
Gamit is a retired government officer, who floated his own party after losing the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Bardoli, while Jhala served the Indian army between 1971 and 1977. He also served in Indian Railways between 1988 and 2012.
With this announcement, AAP has declared 19 candidates out of 26 Lok Sabha seats. However, AAP is yet to declare their candidate against BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who is contesting from the Vadodara seat.
