Accusing the AAP and the BJP of being "partners in crime" in the hiking of the Metro fare, the Yogendra Yadav-led Swaraj India today said both parties are "shedding crocodile tears" over the increase in tariff.
Swaraj India leader Anupam said the hike has been effected despite the chief secretary of Delhi being a part of the Fare Fixation Committee (FCC) and representatives of the Delhi government being on the board of directors of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The party also dared the AAP government to produce "proof" of the objections it raised in the DMRC meetings against the fare hike.
"Both the BJP and the AAP are well aware that the fare hike was imminent, and both are partners in crime. The Delhi government was well represented in the FCC as well on the board of directors of the DMRC and cannot absolve itself from the act of hiking the fare," Anupam said.
He added that
Kejriwal's opposition to the fare hike is "drama" to "mislead and cheat" the people of Delhi.
"There has been almost zero attendance of Delhi government representatives in important committee meetings of DMRC for the last two years. This is a manufactured conflict between BJP and AAP to paint a false public perception on the issue. Both parties are shedding crocodile tears," Anupam claimed.
The AAP has announced a "satyagraha" to roll back the fare.
