The Aam Aadmi Party today dared the MGP ministers in the BJP-led government in Goa to resign if they had lost faith in Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.
"Both the Dhavalikar brothers should quit the posts if they have lost faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Parsekar, instead of merely issuing empty and impotent statements," AAP leader Ashutosh said at a press conference here.
Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) chief Dipak Dhavalikar has said his party will not continue the alliance with BJP in the next year's Assembly elections under Parsekar's leadership. The CM had taken Goa back by ten years, he alleged.
"Dhavalikar brothers' threat that MGP will break ties with BJP if Parsekar remains the alliance leader is a mere rhetoric meant to get a better deal for themselves and ensure BJP keeps under wraps the secrets of their scams and corrupt deals," Ashutosh claimed.
"If you have no faith in the leadership, how come you are you working under Parsekar? Quit if you have the guts," he said.
It was "equally shocking" that Parsekar had kept the MGP ministers in his cabinet despite their statements denouncing him, the AAP leader said, adding that Parsekar should preserve his dignity by showing door to both the ministers.
"BJP leadership's failure to act against Dhavalikars shows that (Manohar) Parrikar-Parsekar duo is the weakest leadership in all the Indian states," he said.
