Aam Aadmi Party government has decided to build a memorial of Gajendra Singh who died at a rally held by the party last month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced today.
Kejriwal, who distributed the compensation cheques to farmers who have suffered crop loss due to unseasonal rain in Outer Delhi's Bawana area, said that Gajendra sacrificed his life which made central and state governments think about farmers' issue.
"Government will soon build a memorial of Gajendra. We will also give job to a member of his family," Kejriwal told a gathering of farmers.
Delhi government has named the farmer compensation scheme 'Gajendra Singh Kisan Sahayta Yojana' after the Rajasthan based farmer who had allegedly hanged himself at an AAP rally at Jantar Mantar last month.
He also appealed to central and state governments to come forward to help farmers in case their crops are damaged due to natural disaster.
"All state and central governments should support farmers whose crops are damaged due to natural calamity," he said.
