Delhi BJP has accused the AAP government of trying to take "advantage" of the employees' strike by extending loan instead of providing funds to municipal corporations.
"Even at the time of the strike in June, 2015, the Kejriwal government played dirty politics and tried to provoke the employees. Today, again the Chief Minister has announced loan to the corporations taking advantage of the sensitive issue of payment of salaries to the employees," said Satish Upadhyay, president of Delhi BJP.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a loan of Rs 551 crore to the North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations to enable them to pay salaries to their employees.
Upadhyay said that just after coming to power the Modi government increased the share of the states in the central revenue by 10 per cent but the Kejriwal government is not giving increased funds to the municipal corporations.
"Is this not due to political agenda of Aam Aadmi Party?" he said.
He challenged Delhi government to issue orders to its Director of Local Bodies to take police action against the municipal corporations if it is aware of scams in BJP-controlled civic bodies as was charged by Kejriwal during his media briefing in Bengaluru.
