Disgruntled AAP legislator Alka Lamba Friday claimed that Anil Bajpai moved to the BJP out of "self respect" as he was "insulted" by the ruling party in Delhi on "multiple occasions".
Bajpai, who joined the BJP on Friday, is the second lawmaker from the AAP to join the saffron fold in the last two months.
The development comes at a time when AAP leaders, including the party's national convener Arvind Kejriwal, have accused the BJP of indulging in horse trading.
"Bajpai's decision to leave the BJP would negatively impact the AAP more than him. The party has insulted him on multiple occasions. His age and physical disability was not even taken into consideration by the party.
"The AAP MLA has taken this step not for money but for his self respect. The AAP should definitely think over it," Lamba, who is the MLA from Chandni Chowk, said.
Bajpai, the AAP's Gandhi Nagar legislator joined the saffron party here in the presence of Delhi BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju and Union minister Vijay Goel.

Before him, AAP MP from Punjab Harinder Singh Khalsa, who was suspended from the party, had joined the BJP in March.
Lamba hit a rough patch with the AAP over its decision to pass a resolution to revoke Rajiv Gandhi's Bharat Ratna.
She had also alleged that the party leadership was "weakening" her and said she is being accused of attempting to switch over to the Congress.
In an apparent reference to Kejriwal, AAP's Sultanpur Majra MLA Sandeep Kumar said in a Facebook live session that an "imposter" is roaming around Delhi asking for votes for 'jhaadu' (AAP's poll symbol).
"An imposter is roaming around in Delhi asking for votes for jhaadu. He has troubled the community. Voting for him is like voting for Pakistan. People should be beware of him," he said in the video.
Rebel AAP Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra also announced a week-long campaign to garner support for BJP candidates on all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
Former Delhi BJP president and Union minister Goel had Thursday claimed that 14 AAP MLAs were in touch with his party and wanted to quit the AAP due to "frustration and humiliation".
Three other AAP leaders, Gaurav Sharma, Vandana Rani and Sanjay Jain, also joined the BJP along with Bajpai.
Sharma and Rani had contested municipal polls in 2017 as AAP candidates.
