AAP leader Sanjay Singh today condemned the police lathichage on seers and others over immersion of idols in the Ganga river, and alleged the ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh were hand in glove with the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
BJP has a "secret pact" with the Samajwadi Party, and they want to repeat an incident like Muzzafarnagar riots here in Varanasi, Singh alleged.
He said this incident of police lathicharge on seers in the holy city was an attempt to incite violence and spread communal tension.
Singh today met Swami Avimukteshwarananda at his Vidya Math here at Kedarghat and assured him of his party's full support. Swami Avimukteshwarananda, disciple of Dwarka Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopananda, dozens of his supporters, and seer Mahant Balak Das were injured in the incident.
Singh also demanded the suspension of SP (city) and other police and administrative officials over the incident.
