Prakash Jarwal, an MLA from Deoli, has been booked, said DCP South-East P Karunakaran.
The MLA has, however, refuted the allegations and claimed that the DJB official had halted the work and also abused him when he questioned about it.
According to the complaint, the MLA allegedly assaulted the DJB official at Sangam Vihar area where he was supervising work of drilling of a tube-well which was started this morning.
However, the official carried on with the work as stopping it would have "indefinitely delayed" the boring of the tubewell.

The official also explained the matter to the MLA when he reached the spot but was allegedly assaulted by him.
He claimed that he had to be admitted to a hospital.
The DJB has filed a complaint with Sangam Vihar police station following which an FIR was registered.
When contacted, Jarwal alleged that the official concerned was asking for a bribe and had stopped the work.
"When I contacted the Assistant Engineer, he assured me that the work will start again, but he again refused to work and told people that I would be coming to inaugurate it," Jarwal said.
The MLA claimed that when he questioned Kumar for halting the work, he abused him saying that BJP had come to power.
