The Aam Aadmi Party, which bagged four out of 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, today said its campaign against drug and sand mafia worked effectively in the state.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, a new entrant in the political sphere, thanked the people of Punjab for supporting its campaign focused on drug, sand mining mafia, women's safety and graft.
"The people have shown a way to counter the decadent political culture of our region. It is a truly humbling occassion for us to dedicate ourselves to their democratic aspirations," said Sumail Singh Sidhu, convener, AAP campaign committee, Punjab.
"Our candidates everywhere in the state have received creditable number of votes with four of them winning in Sangrur, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala," he said.
The AAP would build a strong organisational structure in Punjab and involve people in decision-making process, Sidhu said.
