AAP to conduct farmers' mass contact programme in Maharashtra
Press Trust of India Mumbai AAP today announced that it will organise two parallel mass contact programmes for farmers and farm labourers in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra from May 17 to May 24 at Sindkhed Raja, which is the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji's mother Jijabai.
In a statement here, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that during the programme party volunteers from both rural as well as urban parts of the state will visit villages which have witnessed farmer suicides and assure farmers that the party would support them strongly.
AAP volunteers also plan to explore alternative solutions to their problems through extensive discussions with farmers about supplementary sources of income, in order to end the agrarian crisis and farmer suicides, the AAP statement said.
"AAP intends to infuse as self-confidence among the state's farmers and farm labourers as well as decide the next course of action after extensive discussions with them," AAP's Maharashtra Convenor Subhash Ware said in the statement.
