Newly-inducted Aam Aadmi Party leader Rajan Sushant today said his party would start a statewide membership drive in Himachal Pradesh from March 1, and launch an anti-corruption campaign against the ruling Congress and opposition BJP.
Sushant, suspended BJP MP from the Kangra Lok Sabha seat who had recently joined AAP, today returned from Delhi where he had discussions with party convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other senior leaders.
Talking to reporters here, Sushant said entire politics of Himachal Pradesh "has been reduced to bitter feud between two political families" and major issues like corruption and development had taken the back seat.
He said Himachal Pradesh was not being given its due share in hydro power projects under the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and Shanan hydel project, and his party would create awareness amongst the people about it.
Sushant said passing of a strong Lokpal Bill as well as devolution of powers to panchayats and other local bodies would be his party's top priority.
Replying to questions, Sushant said he had joined AAP with the motive to fight corruption and "whether he will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Kangra or not will be decided by the party leadership".
The leader said he would tour the entire state and enrol members who were committed to fight corruption at all levels.
Earlier, AAP workers took out a procession in the town and held a meeting which was addressed by Sushant.
