"We cannot expect an independent report by these committees since they are directly controlled by the state government. We cannot rule out possibility of political involvement in the incident," AAPSU General Secretary Biru Nasi said in a statement today.
"We appreciate the chief minister's statement when he says that 'no amount of relief can compensate the loss but we must ensure that such tragedies do not recur in future. And for that the culprits need to be punished which will also ensure justice to the victims," Nasi said.
A team of AAPSU delegation would submit representations to the National Human Rights Commission and Amnesty International, the AAPSU general secretary added.
