The Apex court in its order on September 17 last year has asked the Centre and Arunachal Pradesh to immediately confer citizenship on the Chakma and Hajong refugees who have been living in the frontier state for nearly half a century.
The students' body of the state in a meeting held here on Saturday resolved to visit Khatan area under Lohit district in order to see the ground realities, a statement from AAPSU President Kamta Lapung informed here today.
In order to strengthen the communal harmony among the home-grown people of Arunachal Pradesh, the meeting resolved to organise the fourth Inter-Tribe Youth Festival in the month of July next and accordingly selected Biru Nasi, Suraj Tayem, Tanya Agu and Ashing Sonam as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Coordinator for the event.
"AAPSU believes that such festival will be a bridge for bringing the tribes of the state under one umbrella," the statement said.
