Body of an 8-year-old school student, who went 'missing' after being allegedly abducted on Monday evening was found in the jungles of Bhayander here, police said today.
The body with multiple wounds was recovered last night in a decomposed state by Rabale police (Navi Mumbai) following which the victim's uncle Clarence was taken into custody for interrogation in connection with the incident.
The girl was picked up by unknown abductors after she was dropped along with other school children outside her building entrace at Airoli on Monday evening after which she went 'missing', the police said.
The police suspect that a family dispute might be behind the kidnap and murder of the girl.
The abduction came to light when the girl's mother, around 6.30 pm on Monday realised that her daughter was not home after school, police said.
The victim's mother, who had recently undergone a surgery was on medication and was advised bed rest and hence could not come downstairs to pick her daughter up.
Her father, who was on an official tour to Netherlands, has rushed back to the city, police said adding further probe is on.
