Five days after the abduction of a Kolkata-based businessman and his driver in Odisha's Sundargarh, the two were rescued by the police from Bolangir today, a senior police official here said.
"Both the businessman and his driver have been rescued from Bolangir," Sundergarh Superintendent of Police Nikhil Kanodia said.
The case was cracked after the police conducted the probe from different angles, he said.
However, the SP declined to provide details about how the case was cracked saying the investigation was still on and more information would be disclosed at an appropriate time.
Pratik Patodia, who is said to be in his 40s, was abducted on June 22 by unidentified persons while he was going to visit his textile plant near Sundergarh town here, the police said.
Patodia had got down at Jharsuguda railway station and he was supposed to go to Ashok Multi Yarns Limited near Kirei in Sundergarh. He reportedly moved in a van with his driver Rohit Tanty, police said.
Later, his employees at the factory inquired about his arrival and they launched a search operation. His vehicle was found near Beramahal, on the State Highway-10, few kilometres from Sundergarh-Jharsuguda border.
Subsequently, police formed special teams to handle the case.
