Delhi Police has rescued a 24-year-old youth from Uttar Pradesh who was abducted for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh.
Police said the kidnappers had lured Ankit Sharma, a resident of Rohini Sector-8, with an offer to buy a gold brick for a meagre amount at Bishambra village of Mathura.
Yesterday, Sharma left home but did not return. Later, the family received a call from the abductors demanding Rs 10 lakh to set Sharma free, police said.
The victim's father approached the police after which a case of abduction for ransom was registered.
According to the police, they managed to trace the location and movements of the accused with the help of electronic surveillance.
"The teams traveled to Mathura, where cops were informed that this could be a work of Tatloo gang active in Bishambra village. The team located the abductors in a forest on the outskirts of village," a senior police officer said.

Police claimed the kidnappers opened fire on them and fired about 25-30 rounds when they found that they were being tracked. In retaliation, the police team returned fire.
The abductors managed to escape leaving behind the victim who was unhurt, the officer said.
Sharma told the police that he had received a phone call from an unknown person who introduced himself as a farmer and said that he had found a gold brick while digging in a field. The accused also sent the picture of the brick on his mobile.
Sharma fell into their trap. "He was given directions over mobile phone. He was abducted when he reached the village and was then taken to an unknown place blindfolded," police said.
