Cases of abduction and threat to life were registered today against nine persons, including an inspector and head constable, for allegedly abducting a real estate developer in the city and taking signature on property transfer, some days ago.
Gopinath, running Surabhi Promoters here, had lodged a complaint with police that he was abducted by a gang led by Inspector Periyar and Head Constable Karunanidhi and taken his signature on a property transfer after threatening him of dire consequences.
Acting on the complaint, police registered cases against all the nine members under various sections of IPC, including abduction, threat to life, conspiracy and illegal confinement, police said.
