Above normal temperatures keep north India hot

Hot weather conditions persisted in several parts of north India today as mercury stayed above the normal standards at most places with Churu in Rajasthan recording a high of 40.9 degrees Celsius.
People in Delhi experienced an uncomfortably hot and sultry day as temperatures and humidity levels soared to unbearable levels for this time of the year.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 37.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, while the minimum registered 24.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, according to MeT department officials.
Humidity in the air oscillated between 35 and 84 per cent.
Mercury continued to soar in Rajasthan too and Churu's maximum of 40.9 degrees Celsius made it the hottest place in the region, a Met report said.
Western districts of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Barmer continued to reel under intense heat conditions where mercury ranged between 38.4 and 39.7 degrees Celsius, the report said.

In other places in the state, the maximum temperatures ranged between 34.4 and 38 degrees Celsius, the report said.
Jaipur recorded relatively lower temperature at 37.8 degrees Celsius compared to yesterday's 38.9 degrees Celsius.
Warm weather prevailed in Punjab and Haryana as mercury rose above normal levels in most places in the region.
Hisar in Haryana was the hottest place in the region with a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, a MeT report said.
Bhiwani recorded a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius while at Ambala and Narnaul it settled at 33.6 and 36 degrees Celsius, rising by up to two notches above normal.
Union Territory Chandigarh registered 34 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, the Met report said.
In neighbouring Punjab, maximum temperatures of Amritsar and Ludhiana were recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius and 33.5 degrees Celsius respectively while Patiala's high settled at 34.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal.
