Absconding prisoner nabbed in China

A prisoner on death reprieve who had escaped from a jail in South China, was captured today.
Police in Guangdong Province said 28-year-old Li Mengjun was recaptured near Beijiang Prison in Shaoguan City, at about 2:30 pm, the provincial prison management bureau said in a statement, without elaborating.
Li and another inmate attempted escape from the Beijiang Prison yesterday.
He managed to escape, however, the other inmate was knocked down by the prison's electrified wire netting and was recaptured at the scene, state-run Xinhua reported.
Local police and paramilitary officers launched a manhunt and set up blocks on nearby roads to help capture Li.
Li was sentenced to death with a reprieve for robbery in 2006.

Before he fled incarceration, he had 19 years and nine months of his sentence remaining.
