Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) expects 2.7 lakh Indian tourists to travel to the city in the Middle East in 2015, an increase of 20 per cent from last year, a senior official said today.
"Abu Dhabi received 2,31,702 Indian travellers in 2014. The number of visitors from the country (India) is expected to increase to 2.7 lakh by the end of December this year," TCA Abu Dhabi Country Manager Bejan Dinshaw told reporters here.
Abu Dhabi welcomed 1,05,031 Indian hotel guests during January-June 2015 at a growth rate of 18 per cent over the same period last year.
"Abu Dhabi is generating a high level of interest as a multi-faceted, unexplored and exotic destination for the upwardly mobile aspirational Indian traveller," Dinshaw said, adding India is currently Abu Dhabi's leading overseas source market.
The destination is now closer than ever for Indian travellers with Eithad Airways operating daily direct flights between Abu Dhabi and Hyderabad, he said.
Abu Dhabi with its entertainment options, iconic properties, culture, heritage and adventure is the complete destination for a new holiday experience and offers fresh and exotic attractions with a blend of both traditional and the modern, Dinshaw added.
