In a memorandum submitted to Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh, the BJP-affiliated ABVP alleged that chief election officer Prof C S Dubey turned a blind eye to "malpratices" and "corrupt practices" adopted by the NSUI candidates right from the beginning.
The memorandum signed by Dhananjoy Choudhry, who lost to NSUI's Arun Hooda, demanded that the elections, results of which were announced on Saturday, be cancelled due to "malpractices and non-transparent approach of CEC as well as corrupt pratices adopted by Arun Hooda".
The ABVP camp, which has been crying foul since Saturday, said in the memorandum that Dubey has been acting as a "Congressman" ever since he was appointed as election officer and had endorsed the violation by NSUI cadres and candidates.
Choudhry also sought to ask the Vice-Chancellor why Dubey and his colleagues refused to receive a complaint from them after the election results were announced.
They also listed a number of violations of the model code of conduct by the NSUI and non-compliance of norms by Dubey and his colleagues.
The memorandum demanded that Singh "set aside the election process, procure the entire records concerning the elections and set up an enquiry against Dubey."
ABVP also tried imposing a "bandh" on the University campus today and tried to obstruct classes. "We went around college to college, trying to inform students about the issue," ABVP state secretary Rohit Chahal said.
