ABVP stages protest on "misuse" of pictures of girls

: Students led by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today staged a protest before the city police commissioner's office here, demanding the arrest of persons who allegedly created a fake Facebook account and misused pictures of girls, police said.
The protest rally was held from Besant Women's College to commissioner's office.
Addressing the meeting, ABVP district organizing secretary Lavin Kotian said such acts were aimed at defaming the girls by 'misusing' their photos which might result in spoiling their future. The police should book the culprits involved in creating such Facebook accounts.
Incidents of kidnapping, sexual assault and missing cases had been increasing in the coastal region, Kotian said. He requested police to take stringent action against the persons involved in such criminal activities.

The ABVP would intensify the protests if the police authorities failed to take prompt action. A memorandum was submitted to the city police commissioner seeking immediate action.
