The AC double decker train between Habibganj and Indore was flagged off by Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury at Habibganj station in Bhopal today.
This is the fifth AC double decker train since 2011. The other four are running in Jaipur-Delhi, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Chennai-Banglore and Howrah-Dhanbad routes.
Coaches of these trains have better passenger amenities such as reclining chairs, snack tables, bottle holders and automatic AC compartment entrance doors.
AC double decker trains were introduced to cater to higher transport demand. Passenger carrying capacity of these coaches is higher with 120 seats against 78 in Shatabdi chair cars.
