The District Animal Husbandry Officer of East Singhbhum, Dr Taran Singh was caught red-handed by the officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), while accepting bribe from a person here today, ACB sources said.
Ajay Kumar Sinha, a resident of Sarjamda area here, had registered a complaint with the ACB, Jamshedpur Bureau, accusing Singh of demanding Rs 10,000 bribe for disbursement of bank loan on his recommendation, sources said.
Sinha had applied for Rs 1.50 lakh bank loan while a grant of identical amount was sanctioned as grant under a scheme of the department. However, Singh demanded bribe from Sinha as the bank loan would be disbursed on the basis of his recommendation, which the complainant did not want to pay.
Based on the allegation made by Sinha, ACB verified it and found it to be true, which led ACB to register a case today, sources said.
Accordingly, a team of ACB, Jamshedpur headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Amar Kumar Pandey laid a trap and arrested Singh while accepting Rs 8000 from Sinha in his office chamber.
