ACB arrests senior MSEDC technician for accepting bribe
Press Trust of India Thane A senior technician of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company's (MSEDC) Murbad office, who allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe from a villager, was arrested by the Thane unit of the ACB, official sources said here today.
Thane ACB Superintendent of Police Srinivas Ghatge told PTI that the MSEDC technician Ashok S Desle attached to the Murbad office allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 from a complainant to reducing the amount in the power bill.
The aggrieved complainant registered a complaint with the Thane unit of the ACB which laid a trap and arrested Desle this afternoon while he accepted the bribe money from the complainant on Malshej Road in front of Axis Bank, the ACB said.
An offence under Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, has been registered against the technician at the Murbad police station and the case is being probed, ACB sources said.
