Acting on a tip-off about an RTO patrolling team was allegedly extorting money from drivers of overloaded trucks on Kota-Jaipur national highway, an ACB led by Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB, Kota raided it and recovered Rs 16,000 from two RTO inspectors, a senior ACB official said.
The two inspectors along with four guards of RTO and a tout were detained and released later in the day after questioning, while a tout managed to flee, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), ACB, Kota, Chandrasheel Thakur said.
During the search, an accounted amount of Rs 16,000 was recovered from beneath the front seat of an RTO patrolling vehicle, he said
It was also found that the two RTO inspectors, identified as Ramnivas Yadav and Tan Sukh, had challaned only vehicles through the night, four by Ramnivas and one by Tan Sukh.
The RTO patrolling team had been extorting Rs 500 to Rs 2000 from drivers of overloaded trucks and in return did not gave receipt, he added.
Six RTO personnel and the tout, following interrogation, were released later in the day, he said, adding that the matter would be sent to the ACB headquarters to get permission to initiate further proceeding against them in the matter.
