ACB raids officials and seizes disproportionate assets

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided premises of two government officials, including a land revenue official (patwari) as well as a joint engineer in Chhattisgarh state government's power distribution company, and seized disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees, ACB officials said.
Residences as well as other premises of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) assistant engineer Ajay Kumar Gupta and land revenue officer Vinod Tamboli were raided, after which disproportionate assets worth around Rs 5 crore and Rs 3 crore respectively were seized, an ACB official told PTI.
After verifying complaints against Gupta who is posted in Mana, an ACB team raided at his residence at Ashoka Ratna locality of the state capital and his farmhouse in Pirda today morning, the official said.
His total assets included an expensive house at the Ashoka Ratna locality, a flat in Saddhu locality, a house in DD Nagar, a farmhouse at two posh locations, which are all in Raipur, another house in Durg, besides cash worth Rs 52,000, he said.
His assets also include a car, an SUV, motorcycles and etc.
In another case, a raid was conducted at the residence and farmhouse belonging to Tamboli, in Bilaspur district, he said.
Cash worth Rs 20 lakh, more than 900 grams of gold ornaments, 4.250 kg silver ornaments, documents related to movable and immovable properties, including vehicles, houses, farmhouse as well as agriculture land in different locations was seized during the search, he said.
Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and further investigations are on, the official said.
