ACB slaps criminal conspiracy charge in graft case
Press Trust of India Mumbai Maharashtra Police has slapped criminal conspiracy charge on four persons arrested in connection with a bribery case in which residence of a former state minister was searched, a special court was today informed even as the police custody of the accused was extended till November 11.
"We have added section 120b of IPC to the case and we are looking for more persons who could be possibly involved in the case," said an officer of Anti-Corruption Bureau of state police.
The court also extended the police custody of four accused - Sanjay Suradkar, desk officer at Maharashtra revenue department, Vaibhav Andhale, Devidas Dahifale and Dr Mahesh Naikude, attached with All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi, till November 11.
Three persons were arrested on November 1 and Rs 23 lakh were recovered from them by the ACB. The money was to be allegedly handed over to the ex- minister as bribe for getting a copy of an order of a land transfer in the complainant's name.
Later, during a search of his residence on the same day, ACB sleuths had recovered five files.
