Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau, ordered by a Kutch court to probe the alleged multi-crore rupee scam in Kandla Port Turst (KPT), has filed a revision petition saying the case be handed over to a national agency like CBI instead.
"Gandhidham unit of ACB filed a revision plea before the sessions court yesterday and challenged the magistrate's order to probe the scam," police inspector C J Sureja of ACB said.
"We have demanded that the case should be probed by a national agency, probably CBI, and we certainly cannot do it as the Trust comes under the Union Government," he said.
Also, the official who is under the scanner is a Rajasthan-cadre IPS officer who cannot be probed by Gujarat ACB, he said.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Kumari Deepti Swaminarayan of Gandhidham court had on May 27 directed ACB to probe the alleged corruption at KPT. The order came on a petition filed by Sanjay Bhati, a PRO with KPT.
Bhati has alleged that the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of KPT and IPS officer P Ramjee are guilty of derelication of duty in probing an alleged scam to the tune of Rs 1,000 crore.

Sureja said the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate has no power to order inquiry by ACB. Such order can be passed only by a designated court for ACB cases.
