Sharing BJP patriarch L K Advani's fear that "forces that can crush democracy are stronger", West Bengal Left Front Chairman Biman Bose today said the promises of "acche din" are fast fading away and efforts are being made to "curb" the democratic rights of the masses.
"He (Advani) is a seasoned politician. He is well aware of things. Before elections promises were made that blackmoney would be brought back. But after one year we have seen no such things rather prices of shares are going up everyday in order to help the family members of BJP politicians in order to help them turn the blackmoney into white," he alleged.
"The accha din is fast fading away. It will only hamper the masses and efforts are being made to curb the democratic rights of the masses. The fears of emergency can always be there in this situation," Bose said.
Advani said in an interview to a national daily, "At the present point of time, the forces that can crush democracy, notwithstanding the constitutional and legal safeguards, are stronger."
"I don't think anything has been done that gives the assurance that civil liberties will not be suspended or destroyed again. Not at all," he said.
