Accident claims two lives, trailer set ablaze, blockade on NH

Rapid Action Force and police personnel rushed to Alampur More in Howrah district today to quell a mob who had blocked the National Highway and set ablaze a trailer after a mother and daughter were crushed under its wheels.
Three fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames and the RAF and the police persuaded the locals to lift the blockade which had created a traffic snarl for over 90 minutes on NH 6, the police said.
The accident took place near Alampur More when Rashida Begum and her eight-year-old daughter Sabina Khatun were crushed under the wheels of the Howrah-bound trailer.

Irate locals beat up the driver who had to be hospitalised in an unconscious state, the police said.
