The complainant was appointed as a sweeper on compassionate grounds after death of his mother.
"M Nookaraju had allegedly demanded Rs 6,000 from the complainant for releasing pension benefits of his mother," said deputy Superintendent of Police (Visakha Urban), ACB, K Ramakrishna Prasad.
However, he finally agreed to accept Rs 5,000, following which the complainant approached the ACB which in turn laid a trap.
The agency laid a trap and apprehended the officer, the dySP added.
