"Every political party is making a list of promises during elections, assembly or Lok Sabha, but a few of the promises are implemented by it," Pilot said addressing Indian Youth Parliament (IYP) here.
Election Commission has no power to ensure it, hence there should be a reform for fixing accountability on political party that used to lure voters, and all assurances and poll manifesto be implemented by bringing reforms in the poll process, Pilot said.
On a question why "money and power" were playing important role in selecting candidates in elections, Pilot said most of the parties go for winnable candidates against the rival, and on that criteria they had no option. But this phenomena was changing very fast in some areas, he claimed.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Vijay, senior journalist and Rajya Sabha MP, said politics should not be a profit making deal, and youths joining it should refrain from it.
Political parties should also avoid giving gifts to voters during election process, he said, adding, many parties used to give TV, microwave oven, computer to lure voters, which was a very bad practice.
