Three men, arrested in the Hyderabad ISIS module case last year, allegedly assaulted jail officials at the Chanchalguda Central Prison here today.
Mohd Ibrahim Yazdani, Mohd Iliyas Yazdani and Mohd Athaullah Rahman alias Ghouse have been booked under IPC sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 225 (resistance to lawful apprehension of another person) and sections of Prisoners Act, said inspector D Venkanna Naik of Dabeerpura police station.
The three under-trial prisoners met their relatives in the interview section of the jail around noon. Afterwards, while waiting at a wicket gate separating two sections to collect their belongings, the trio suddenly pushed a warder, entered the main gate area and "manhandled prison staff" while showering abuse on them, officials said.
Warder G Sampath suffered an eye injury while some other staff members suffered minor injuries, they said.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Hyderabad police had arrested eight persons here last year, claiming that they belonged to a module affiliated to the Middle-East terrorist organisation Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
They were charge-sheeted in December for hatching a conspiracy to 'wage war against the country' by collecting weapons and explosives and targeting public places including religious sites and important government buildings.
